Use WinDirStat to analyze the disk usage on the computer.
Disk cleaning utilities
- C:ProgramData/Package Cache: seems like these are packages downloaded as part of Visual Studio installation.
- pagefile.sys file. Windows uses a page file (pagefile.sys) as virtual
memory because you only have a finite amount of physical random access memory (RAM).
It sits on your hard drive or SSD (C:\pagefile.sys) ready to receive things as
necessary and the size is dictated by the amount of RAM in your system, it matches.
Delete instructions: Control panel> System> Advanced system settings> Peformance Settings> total paging file size (Change)> Uncheck automatically manage paging file size> no paging file. - hyberfil.sys file. hiberfil.sys is a file the system creates
when the computer goes into hibernation mode. Hibernate mode uses the hiberfil.sys
file to store the current state (memory) of the PC on the hard drive and the file
is used when Windows is turned back on.
Disable hybernation from cmd (run as adnministrator):powercfg -h off
. After the hybernation mode is turned off, the option is removed in the shut-down menu and the file is deleted.
Alternatively, select the following menu: Control Panel> Power options> Hybernate>
